A nature-friendly elementary school nestled on the slopes of Baekryeonsan mountain, known for emphasis on proper writing, reading, and 800meter exercises.

The school operates without class presidents or vice presidents, and there are no competitive events.

Renowned for not conducting English level tests for first graders,

and there are no additional fees for after-school programs, apart from quarterly tuition.

I attended an admission orientation at Myeongji Elementary School with my child. The moment we entered the school gate, the refreshing presence of nature greeted us. Located on the slopes of Baekryeonsan mountain, the air was invigorating.

Inside the classrooms, you could witness and feel the changing seasons through the windows, fostering a connection with nature. The 1stgrade classroom, in particular, had a sense of openness, and the presence of a door leading from the classroom to a storytelling garden was refreshing

A school without class president or vice president

There is no class executive system. From 1st to 6th grade, the role of the class leader is performed by a 'helpful child' selected through a rotation system, providing everyone with the opportunity to take on the role of a class leader each month and develop leadership skills evenly. It is a school where every child is the protagonist.

A school without competitions

There are no competitions where only a few children become the protagonists, such as art competitions, music contests, or academic competitions. Instead, activities such as English presentation contests, music learning presentations, science exploration presentations, and art exhibitions are open to everyone, allowing them to boost their self-esteem through presentation-style activities.

An open classroom.

1st and 2nd-grade classrooms are visible and flexible open classrooms. Instead of solid walls separating classrooms and corridors, glass folding doors and sliding doors are used to ensure expandability and a sense of space. The initial impression is bright, curious, and free. In this open environment, 1st-grade students can comfortably express themselves.

Proper Writing Instruction

We prioritize proper writing instruction from 1st grade, resulting in the students at Myeongji Elementary School developing very neat and beautiful handwriting. We teach cursive writing, and as a result, the handwriting of Myeongji Elementary School students is well-known.

Reading 800

We guide students to read over 200 books annually for 1st and 2nd graders, 140 books for 3rd graders, and 60 books for 4th and 5th graders, aiming to help them read over 800 books in six years

Myeongji Elementary School 1st-grade English Level Test

At Myeongji Elementary School, there are no regular English classes for 1st and 2nd graders.

It is an optional after school activity. Starting from 3rd grade, regular English classes are provided. The school is open for admission without any English language background, allowing students to join without feeling pressured by English
